A lightweight artificial intelligence model runs directly in your browser. It analyses the image, finds the main subject, whether a person, an animal or an object, and makes the background transparent. You get a cut-out PNG, ready to place on any background.
No image is sent to a server: processing is free, unlimited and private. The trade-off is that your device does the computing: allow a few seconds per image, a bit longer on an older phone.
The first time, the AI engine is downloaded and then cached by your browser. This step may take a moment depending on your connection. After that it loads almost instantly, even from one visit to the next.

To help the model: a well-lit photo, a subject that stands out from the background, and a decent image size, 1000 pixels or more.
The resulting PNG keeps its transparency. To reduce its size, run it through Compress image and choose WebP, which also keeps transparency. To adjust the framing around the subject, use Crop image.
